Course Details

How do we backchain when the heeling pattern is always different? Why would be even want to backchain heeling? With this method you can effectively and efficiently create more drive with specific pieces of heeling such as slow pace, halts, about turns, etc. Your dog will get to rehearse the end behavior correctly numerous times without losing attitude or style. Backchaining is also a very effective method for teaching your dog to put an entire heeling pattern together. Instead of your dog losing focus and drive as the pattern progresses, your dog’s attitude and drive will go up! In this workshop I will explain in detail how and why to backchain heeling. You will have an opportunity to work with your dog on backchaining to strengthen weaker pieces of heeling and to build confidence with a full pattern. With an open mind and a bit of practice you too will be able to take advantage of the incredible benefits of backchaining.
